Board of Governors

The Busy Bees Board of Governors is composed of five parents and the Directors of Busy Bees. A teacher representative is also invited to attend board meetings as an observer. Members are appointed from the parent community, with appointments occurring in May for the upcoming academic year (August – July).

The Board of Governors is tasked with ensuring the school operates effectively and transparently while providing support and guidance to the school Directors. Their primary focus includes oversight of school management, financial resources, and security matters.

Board meetings are held bi-monthly (a total of six meetings per school year) or more frequently as needed at the request of the School Directors.

Tobias & Solène Bryson

Secretaries

Meet Tobias & Solène Bryson

Tobias and Solène Bryson joined the Busy Bees community in early 2024 after moving to Kinshasa in February with their two children, Kézia and Caius. Since then, they have become active and engaged members of the school’s parent community.

Toby is self-employed and works remotely as a Highways Engineer for a company based in London, bringing a problem-solving mindset and global perspective to his work and community contributions. Solène works at the British Embassy in Kinshasa as a Social Development Advisor, with a professional background focused on international development and public service.

Based in UTEX, the Brysons are lovers of live music, sports, travel, and—of course—fried plantain. As co-secretaries on the Busy Bees Board, Tobias and Solène are dedicated to strengthening communication, supporting school initiatives, and ensuring that parent voices are heard and valued.

Their shared commitment to inclusive education and community building makes them a dynamic duo in helping Busy Bees thrive.
